Harder than it should have been, the "Beautiful Battlin' Bat Babes" eke out an eight inning victory over underdog but determined Northern burlington. The usually formidable Lady Greyhounds are struggling through their woest season since 1997 (the last time they didn't qualify for the playoffs). Still, when it's Florence, teams always seem to bring out their best effort. The lady Greyhounds scored first and kept the "Babes off the scoreboard until the fith innin when they tied the game on a single by "Sweets" Sweeney. The Lady Greyhounds responded with a run in the sixth on a throwing error to regain the lead but the "Battlin' Bat Babes" tied it up again in the seventh on a single by "Dez-E" Fillmyre and a double by "Chee-Chee" Kehr. After the "Babes" worked their way out of a bases loaded situation in the top of the eighth inning, they secured the victory on a ripping single to right center by "Sugar" Maple with two on to end the game.
