"Battlin Bat Babes" Drop the ball     Lose heartbreaker in overtime 5-4

The game was full of great plays by the "Beautiful Battlin' Bat Babes" including a spectacular shoe string catch by Nicole "Killah" Killian. A superb throw by Emily "Money" Million from centerfield to home for a put out at the plate and three great stretches for outs at first base by Carllie "Sugar" Maple. Kelly "Oh-Kay" Garganio was still nursing a sore arm (from an injury in the Hammonton tournament) but was super in the circle  and also belted a triple to start a two run fourth inning.
New Egypt's (16-1, 7-0) star pitcher Abbey Houston retired the first 10 hitters she faced, but the Lady Flashes rapped three consecutive hits to take a 2-0 lead in the fourth. Carly Maple singled a run home and scored on a double by Garganio. The Flashes Gals (7-6, 4-1) doubled their lead with help from a pair of errors in the seventh inning and a hit by Chelsea Kehr that made it 4-0. The "Babes" carried that lead into the bottom of the seventh inning but then things took a turn for the worst. A pair of Florence errors and a walk loaded the bases for New Egypt with one out, and then freshman Emily Bausher hit a hard ground ball that got into right-center field for a two-run double. Another freshman, Kayla Soles, followed Bausher’s hit with a bad-hop single over second base that tied the game. The Lady Warriors pushed the winning run across in the bottom half of the eighth. Robynn Frank set it in motion with a one-out double down the left-field line. She moved to third on a wild pitch and scored with two outs when Houston walked, then broke for second to draw a throw from Garganio. The Flashes Gals can still get a share of the division title if the run the table for the rest of their leauge games, but that also means they have to beat the Lady Warriors in the rematch at home on may 21st. Not impossible to do.

21/05/08 @ Home "Gettin' It Done" The beautiful "Battlin' Bat Babes" turn the tables on New Egypt     Down Lady Warriors 3-1

In the first game, the "Babes" jumped out to a 4 zip lead and lost in eight innings. This time it was New Egypt who scored first, but the "Battlin' Bat Babes" fought back and snatched victory from defeat. The win sets the Lady Flashes up for a possible share of the Freedom Division title (which they would have won outright had they held on to that 4-0 lead in the first game), if they defeat Burlington City and Maple Shade in the two remaining (postponed) division contests.
Right now though, the "Battlin' Bat Babes" are focusing their attention on their first round playoff game today (Thursday) against Keansburg.

Kelly "Oh-Kay" Gargaino was superb in the circle, even though she walked in the Lady Warriors only run. Two fielding errors and a single loaded the bases with one out in the top of the first inning and "Oh-Kay" walked the next batter resulting in the only run the Warriors could score. The "Babes" defense tightened and with some plays bordering on spectacular cut off every Warrior attempt at increasing their score. Emily "Money Million had four great catches (one a "Oooo" drawing over the shoulder catch in deep center), freshman rightfielder Nicole "Killah" Killian had a nifty extra base robber going to her left for a deep fly to right center and the infield got superb play fron freshman shortstop Desaree "Dez-E" Fillmyre and (first year varsity ) junior shortstop Jackie "Jackie-Gee" Giambrone. Solid play by veterans juniors "Chee-Chee" Kehr, "Sugar" Maple, "Sweets" Sweeney and "Smooth" Schreck made it impossible for the Lady Warriors to take advantage of the few hits they were able to get off a determined "Oh-Kay" who had the look of determinaton through out the whole game as she proved she is also one of the better picthers in the BCSL.

After going hitless against the hard throwing Abbey Houston (one of the top if not the top pitchers in the BCSL) for three innings, the "Bat Babes" got it going in the fourth when "Dez-E" Fillmyre managed a one out walk, "Chee-Chee" Kehr whacked a single and "Sugar" Maple drove them both in with a double to right centerfield to give the "Babes" all the offense they would need

Adding to the joy of the day was the 4-0 victory by the
Junior Varsity earlier in the afternoon

Don't look for an account of the game in the Burlington County Times, we didn't lose :-}
