SWISH, SWISH, SWISH
Oh "KAY" !!! Kelly "Oh-Kay" Garganio fans nine as the "Beautiful Battlin' Bat Babes" topple Keansburg 2-1 to advance to the semifinals of the Central Jersey Group 1 playoffs
On a day when it REALLY mattered, pitcher Kelly Garganio broke out some of her best pitches as she registered nine strikeouts against one walk and four hits to help the "Bat Babes" send the pesky Lady Titans back north wondering what happened to their hitting.
Just yesterday, Kellyhad pitched a seven hit 2-1 win over the number one (State Group-1) ranked New Egypt Lady Warriors in which she didn't give up a run but also didn't register any strikeouts. So this game had to be a big lift especially since the "Babes" also didn't have a great day at the plate manageing only three hits themselves.
SWISH!-SWISH!-SWISH! Yer Out!

While the "Battlin' Bat Babes" weren't raising any eyebrows at the plate, they did take advantage of a few opportunities the Lady Titans gave them. Chelsea "Chee-Chee" Kehr provided the bang, driving in both Lady Flashes runs with two of the three hits the "Babes" produced smashing a single in the first inning to drive in Katie "Smooth" Schreck who had drawn a walk to give the Flashes Gals an early 1-0 lead. After the Lady Titans tied the score in the top of the third on an error walk and single, "Chee-Chee" smacked another single up the middle to drive in Emily "Money" Million who had the only other hit for the beautiful "Battlin Bat Babes".
Despite the lack of a big hitting game, The "Bat Babes" continued their much improved defense whenever the Lady Titans did manage to hit the hard throwing "Oh-Kay", and on the few occasions in which they did manage to reach base, they stayed there until the inning was over. Although they gave up another unearnd run, the young Flashes Gals seem to be feeding off a really good fielding performance the night before when they turned two double plays and three great catches on top ranked New Egypt.
